“I go to the police street children holding centre and it’s like a dog pound, they all say, pick me, pick me, but I can’t take them all”.
Didi Ananda Kalika, founder and director of Lotus Children’s Center
The Lotus Children’s Centre is a Mongolian non-profit, non-governmental organization working with vulnerable children and families to provide the basic human rights of shelter, food and education. Lotus cares for up to 150 abused, orphaned and abandoned children at any one time. Initially set up to provide basic survival needs for just a handful of children, a kindergarten and primary school have since been developed to provide an educational foundation and primary pathways are being developed for older teens. Lotus is entirely dependent on generous donors as there is currently no government funding available.
